Our House - A Safe Haven for the Homeless
Housed in the lower level of the Carriage House at 85 Grand Street, homeless people find a welcoming, safe place where they can begin rebuilding their lives. At left, Mike, a homeless guest, does some volunteer clean up. Above, staff member Wayne Birch says “Working here I’ve met such great people . . . they’re a gift . . . it touches me deeply.”
Clockwise from top left: Kyle & Company relax over a game of cards; Ecclesia member Ruth Ruelke serves up dinner to one of the guests; Ecclesia member Amy Malick talks with Bob about his plans for housing; Jane massages Bill’s fingers hardened by life on the streets.
Below: turned away from the local shelter because it had reached capacity, four guests return to Our House for a night in a warm safe place.
