A place to pray, to be, to do
Friends from far and wide joined us on the sidewalk July 8th to celebrate our sixth anniversary, exploring God's call to wholeness and celebrating the Eucharist (photo below, center). We then moved inside the Hope Center to dedicate a space that will serve as a chapel and be available for a variety of others uses by the community. Many of us stood beneath the stained glass ceiling for a simple dedication service in which we read the Beattitudes and prayed this prayer of dedication: Loving God, whose love burns deeply and calls all of Creation to action, who meets us in prayer, we come together to dedicate this space in honor of your faithful servant James Huntington. Come, tender God, fill this room with your Spirit and power. Hear our prayer, hear the prayers of those who stop here, who lift up their hearts to you. May all who come here find sanctuary in this place. May they find comfort and solace for their souls. May they know their prayers are heard and answered. May their faith be strengthened, their love refreshed, their hope encouraged. May the experience of prayer which they have in this place energize them with your love, a love that must act. We pray this together, God, as your children. Amen.
